Residential Solar Installer Runs Smarter with AI
One of the largest U.S. residential solar installers was managing leads across 100+ dealer companies with no central platform, submitting utility applications manually for every job, and tracking hundreds of active installs with no way to flag risks early. We built the platform that changed all three — and it’s now the operational backbone for 600+ users across California, Texas & North Carolina.

A unified platform with three integrated modules
We designed and built a custom internal platform with three modules, each targeting one of these pain points directly. Together they form a connected operational infrastructure — not three separate tools.
The Sales Portal is the operational backbone now used by 100+ dealer companies, 150+ teams, and 580+ users. Since February 2026, when the legacy CRM was decommissioned across the dealer network, it has been the sole source of truth for all lead and job management.
Key Capabilities
- Full role hierarchy — Sales Admins, Managers, Reps, Lead Generators, Appointment Setters — each with precisely scoped permissions on what they see and what actions they can take
- Two-step onboarding: platform admins invite dealer companies; company owners then manage their own users, teams, and roles — fully self-served
- Lead lifecycle management: creation, assignment, appointment setting, Customer Verification, conversion to job
- Real-time dashboard: leads and job stats, trends, payment data, and a leaderboard of the top 5 performing reps
- Customer Verification: an SMS is sent to the homeowner to confirm the identity of their sales rep — a fraud-prevention layer built into the core flow
The Automations module targets one of the most time-consuming workflows in solar operations: submitting interconnection applications to utility providers. Before this feature, the process was 100% manual. It is now automated for three of four providers in the network.
How It Works
- Ops Manager triggers one automation from within the portal
- The system fetches relevant job data and navigates the external utility platform automatically
- If data is missing or something goes wrong, the system surfaces exactly where and why
- The PM resolves the issue and restarts — the automation picks up from that point
- Real-time status tracking and a full audit log give complete visibility throughout
AI Ops is an AI-powered analysis and chat suite built directly into the portal. It continuously monitors active jobs for data changes and automatically runs analysis in the background — so by the time a PM opens a job, the insights are already there. No manual trigger required.
Key Capabilities
- Automated analysis triggered by job data changes — runs in the background, always on
- 6 configurable scenarios — structured instructions defining what the AI looks for and what role it takes
- Client-owned scenario management — the team can create, refine, and test scenarios against real job data before deploying
- Conversational chat — PMs can ask any question about any job and receive answers grounded in live data (risks, blockers, status, history, colleague queues)
