Alexandr joined the TechQuarter team last summer as a QA Automation intern and quickly stood out for his curiosity, determination, and passion for automation.

In a very short time, he became a key member of the team, known for his attention to detail, solution-oriented thinking, and impressive contributions to complex projects.

He approaches testing with a curious mindset and a genuine enthusiasm for learning, serving as an example of growth and dedication within our QA team.

Elena Balan says: “He is reliable, adaptable, and approaches every challenge with a solution-oriented mindset.”

Bianca Cornaciu [BC]: What do you find most exciting about software testing and what led you to choose this career path?

Alexandr Rabuleac [AR]: What excites me most about software testing is the mindset of questioning everything from the business requirements to the code written by developers. It’s a bit like living by the motto ‘trust no one’ (in the best way 😅). I enjoy looking at things from different angles, challenging assumptions, and sometimes finding problems in places no one expected.

[BC]: What has been the most challenging project you’ve worked on so far in TechQuarter, and what made it rewarding?

[AR]: The most challenging project I’ve worked on at TechQuarter is the one I’m currently working on. My role was to create an Automation Tool that helps speed up a process which normally takes trained staff around 30 minutes to complete. With the tool, the same flow can now be done automatically in about 3 minutes. It was complex because it involved many moving parts different systems, business rules, and user flows that had to work together smoothly.

[BC]: What would a day in your life as a QA Engineer look like?

[AR]: A typical day for me starts with a good coffee and planning out what needs to be done. Most of my time goes into solving problems, whether that means working on automation, reviewing requirements. I also stay in touch with the client side, making sure we understand their needs clearly and adjusting our work so it brings real value to them.

[BC]: In the ever-evolving field of technology, how do you keep your skills sharp and stay up-to-date with industry trends?

[AR]: I keep my skills sharp by always staying curious and open to learning. I regularly follow tech blogs, online communities, and tutorials to explore new tools and approaches. Another important part for me is communication with colleagues. I enjoy talking with them about new technologies or simply seeing how they solve different problems. I believe the fastest and best way to learn is directly from people who are really good at what they do.

[BC]: Looking towards the future, which emerging technologies or trends are you most excited about and potentially looking to work with?
What are your predictions in this area for the next 3-5 years?

[AR]: I’m most excited about how AI will support developers in the coming years. The real value will still come from people, creativity, experience, and ability to understand business needs. AI will just make that process faster and easier.

[BC]: What piece of advice would you give to someone aspiring to become a QA Engineer?

[AR]: Be curious, persistent, and patient don’t stop questioning and exploring. A true hunger for knowledge is what will help you grow quickly!

[BC]: Has any movie, book, or TV series sparked your interest lately?

[AR]: Recently I rewatched The Matrix (1999), which I first saw in the cinema years ago, it completely blew my mind back then and still feels ahead of its time today.

[BC]: Which fictional character (TV/movie/game/book) would make a great software tester — and why?

[AR]: I think Columbo (though probably only a few of you still remember who he is :D) would make a great software tester. He always looks a bit distracted, but in reality he notices the smallest details and never stops asking questions until the truth comes out. That persistence and eye for detail is exactly what makes a good tester.

[BC]: Is there an activity that helps you relax and unwind?

[AR]: For me, the best way to relax is spending time with my family, going to the gym, and enjoying moments with friends.

[BC]: Fun Fact: Can you share a fact about yourself that not many people know?

[AR]: My life has been so full of twists and unexpected experiences that sometimes I feel a bit like Salvador Dali. From studying marketing and logistics, working as a DJ for years, and living, studying in different countries, to now working in IT.
